I am making
a total life and career change from accounting in the car business to
a Reverend of New Thought Philosophy.
After
three years of study, I will take a two-day exam on May 5 and 6, 2000,
for a master’s degree in divinity. If I succeed with this written test,
I could candidate for ministerial positions as soon as I pass the oral
panels the second week of August, 2000. Since fall, school has been
very stressful. I am completing two degrees concurrently. Will I make
it through successfully? Is there anything to guard against or watch
out for? My health has been challenged during this period. I was born
May 24, 1947 at 5:55 am PST in San Pedro, California.

Dear
Worried,
Congratulations
for having the courage to make such a dramatic life change. While your
professional transformation might appear startling to some, from an
astrological perspective, it's not surprising in the least. There's
every reason to feel confident about your decision and every reason
to anticipate success.
In
March of 1996, Uranus began transiting, or moving into, your Ninth House.
The Ninth House rules, or is linked to, philosophy, spiritual beliefs
and religion, and is home to higher education. It's where we quest for
truth, quench our thirst for knowledge and envision the biggest possible
picture.
Uranus
is an innovator. Sparking invention and reform, Uranus catalyzes change.
It's eclectic and eccentric. When Uranus journeys through the Ninth
House, it draws us toward unusual ideologies and beliefs. Abhorring
dogma (unless, of course, it's a doctrine of revolution), Uranus often
takes a radical point of view simply for the sake of controversy.
Leaving
behind a life of accounting in order to follow a spiritual calling seems
an appropriate manifestation of Uranus transiting the Ninth House.
There's
no need to be anxious about your written exams. On May 5 and 6, 2000,
transiting Uranus, still in your Ninth House, will trine your natal
Uranus and your Ascendant. This trine provides positive support. Consider
it astro-aid. What's more, this Uranus trine is the peak of a cycle
that started when Uranus entered your Ninth House and you answered an
authentic spiritual calling. There's no reason to feel you'll fail.
But
you do need to stay calm. Uranus often creates nervous excitement. And
on May 5, the Moon and Mars conjunct your Sun, making you restless and
anxious. At the same time, Pluto is opposing your Mercury. This opposition
could make you obsess over every answer and amplify your nervousness.
Again, there's nothing to be afraid of and no need to second-guess your
answers. Trust your intuition. Stay centered. Let all that hard work
pay off.
But
that's not all. You're also under another profound influence at the
time of your exams—Saturn conjunct Jupiter. These two planets are not
often found next to one another. In fact, the last time they formed
a conjunction was 20 years ago. And they haven't been conjunct in Taurus
since 1940.
This
unique configuration bodes well for your success. Jupiter, among its
many other domains, rules religion. Saturn is the expert and seeks recognition
for its wisdom and purpose. Classically, a Saturn-Jupiter conjunction
signifies the clergy!
And
it just so happens this Saturn-Jupiter conjunction opposes your natal
Jupiter in your Sixth House. The Sixth House is all about service. Unfortunately,
most of us confuse service with sacrifice. But true service isn't about
denying the self. It's about finding what makes your heart sing with
caring. When we're happy with what we do, that joy spreads to others
and inspires similar aspirations. Let the Saturn-Jupiter conjunction
deepen your desire to serve.
What's
more, Uranus simultaneously squares that very same Jupiter. Again, Uranus
is interested in innovation and can't help but instigate surprise. Expect
expanded possibilities and a reaffirmation of your choice to follow
a spiritual path.
In
August, when you take your oral panels, you'll be under the influence
of Neptune as it squares your Venus and opposes your Saturn. Try not
to answer too many questions at once. Stick to what you know. Neptune
easily encourages embellishment. But because Neptune rules mystical
urges and the concept of unity, this very same transit could work on
your behalf, allowing the devotional part of your ministry to express
itself.
I'm
not a medical astrologer, so I can't offer any sound advice as to why
your health has been challenged. But common sense suggests stress. It's
hard to make big changes and carry a heavy academic load. Increasing
your meditation will alleviate tension. And a good exercise routine
will help manage the intensity.
Again,
there's every reason to count on success. So stop worrying. The end
is in sight. Enjoy each step as you cross the finish line.
