Opposite
Signs Attract
Leo J.C.
Chasez and Aquarius Justin Timberlake are the leading members of 'N Sync,
currently the most popular and successful "boy band" on the
planet. These talented performers, whose good looks and sex appeal have
assured them international heartthrob status, first met and became friends
while performing on the Disney Channel's updated Mickey Mouse Club,
which aired on cable until 1994.
After briefly
pursuing solo careers in Nashville, they decided to work together, and
later teamed up with Chris Fitzpatrick (Libra), Joey Fatone (Aquarius)
and Lance Bass (Taurus) to form their now-famous quintet. Their debut
album was released in 1998, and since then, they have rapidly risen to
megastar status.
 Born
under opposite Sun signs—which can bring out the best in each another—these
two can collaborate well as long as they consciously foster an open, give-and-take
relationship. Theoretically, this may be easier for democratic Aquarius
to do than autocratic Leo. Still, both are "fixed" signs, known
for being strong-willed and, at times, inflexible. J.C. and Justin both
also have significant relationships between the Sun and Saturn in their
birth charts. A Sun-Saturn combination is an astrological signature of
a hard-working, steady achiever.
Big
Daddy
J.C. is considered
the most responsible one of the group and has earned the nickname "Big
Daddy," which fits perfectly, since Saturn, the planet of paternal
guidance, is conjunct his Sun. This gives him a mature disposition that
would have even been evident during his early teenage years.
His earnest
drive to accomplish something both important and attention-grabbing in
the world is further enhanced by his creative, theatrical Leo energy.
This Sun-Saturn energy also urges him to instill a sense of discipline
in his fellow band members; he’ll try to keep everything and everyone
in line. Since having sober Saturn in the same sign as one’s Sun makes
for a grounded, no-nonsense personality, J.C. is also known as "Mr.
Serious."
His Saturn
in Leo means he desires to control and perfect his creative output. This
Saturn gives him imposing managerial skills and suggests that work becomes
a main outlet for fun. Yet, professionalism is also important to him.
He'll come down hard on himself if he thinks his onstage performance is
anything but flawless.
The
Baby
Although
Justin Timberlake’s hair earns him the nickname "Curly," his
youthful face, and the fact that he is the youngest member of the band,
is most likely why he’s also called "The Baby." With fiery Leo
as his rising sign, Justin is a born entertainer, one who always loved
to put on a song-and-dance show for his friends and family when he was
a little kid.
Now, as a
young adult, he seems to have little fear of performing onstage. His Aquarian
Sun gives him an easy ability to relate to large audiences, while his
Leo Ascendant provides extra flair. He has no trouble warming up to his
fans. Leo and Aquarius together give him an attractive aura of confidence,
friendliness and boyish charm.
Unlike J.C.,
Justin’s Saturn, in partnership-oriented Libra, is a sign of a someone
who is accommodating if it will keep relationships in good working order.
Fairness is important to him, as is listening to all sides of any issue.
His strength and direction come from working harmoniously with committed
team players. A solo career would prove less satisfying for him.
While not
the leader that Chasez is, Justin is less hung-up on wanting control and
order. He’ll probably insist on fairness and balance in his life, plus
he’ll find the time to seriously pursue his love and marriage interests
(Libra’s special concern), perhaps with girlfriend Britney Spears. He
was born with the Sun and Saturn in a 120-degree angle called a trine—an
aspect that nicely combines steady ambition with a healthy respect for
sensible timing. This more easy-flowing trine also means that Justin is
less driven regarding his career, and yet he’s mature enough to handle
responsible power roles in society as they come along.
The
Realist and the Dreamer
How else
do "Big Daddy" and "The Baby" compare, astrologically?
Chasez has several planets in the potentially workaholic sign of Virgo,
a sign that excels at keeping life operating at productive levels with
a minimum of confusion. J.C. is probably very picky about his the way
he and his band members are professionally treated, and will study any
business contracts offered carefully. Chasez is also coolly level-headed
and less into dramatic emotional displays, in public at least. J.C. Chasez
can be quite a realist about the things that mean the most to him.
In contrast,
Justin has Mercury, the planet of communication in Neptune’s sign,
Pisces (the sign of starry-eyed optimism). Adding to this effect is his
Moon (his emotional nature) exactly conjunct visionary Neptune in Sagittarius.
(Interestingly, his famous girlfriend Britney Spears is a Sagittarius
with her Moon in Aquarius, making theirs a perfect astrological match.)
Pisces, Sagittarius and Neptune are all associated with inspiration. They
dream of a better future for humanity. Being compassionate, Justin yearns
for more ideal conditions in the world. In fact, a pet project is his
Justin Timberlake Foundation, created to help promote high-caliber music
programs in public schools throughout America.
While J.C.
seems serious and highly focused, Justin’s Neptune/Pisces energies can
make him subject to weird moods; his feelings are more easily hurt than
is realized. Soft-spoken and tender-hearted, Timberlake is probably adverse
to confrontations and aggressive people. On a minor note, J.C. most likely
has to get on Justin’s case when it comes to being punctual or remembering
small but important practical details. Still, Justin’s Leo rising gives
him a lead on better understanding J.C.’s more ego-sensitive Sun-in-Leo
temperament.
It’s easy
to see how these two good friends complement each other and bring compatible
strengths to their group. As long as they remain smoothly "in sync"
with one another, ’N Sync will continue to be a mighty musical force to
reckon with for years to come.
