Breathing
Easy
Faith Hill,
recent winner of a People’s Choice Award, is also nominated for four
Grammys, including Best Song of the Year for her hit, "Breathe."
The beautiful blonde Virgo with the powerful vocal pipes is certainly
having the time of her life, career wise. The opportunities and accolades
just keep a-coming for this talented and deserving artist. With over eleven
million albums sold in just six years, Faith Hill is obviously doing something
right.
Hill
is quite a focused, hard worker who’s determined to put out the best she’s
capable of, confirmed by the fact that all four of her albums have gone
multi-platinum (each sold over two million copies). This work ethic is
common for people with the Sun (self) in Virgo, a sign known for being
detail-oriented and fastidious. Interestingly, Hill has been compared
to two other Virgo vocalists, Trisha Yearwood and Shania Twain, who are
also blessed with big, crowd-pleasing voices.
Virgo recording
artists are very particular about their albums and performances. Faith,
a perfectionist, puts forth a tremendous effort to get everything to sound
just right—even more than her fans would suspect, since once on stage,
she makes it all look so easy. Yet, her Virgo sense of purity would prevent
her from compromising her talents by choosing material that doesn’t reflect
who she really is inside.
On October
6, 1996, Hill married another fast-rising, country-music star: Tim McGraw.
Tim’s a Taurus, an earth sign known for its calm, down-home disposition.

Does It
Tim
McGraw won the 2001 American Music Award for Favorite Male Country Artist.
He’s also been nominated for two Grammys, including one for his hit duet
with Faith, "Let’s Make Love." This country superstar has gained
an amazing number of new fans and sold plenty of records since the 1994
release of his breakthrough second album. Like Faith, McGraw is riding
the wave of a career high.
Despite Taurus’
placid temperament, easy-going nature and love of stabilizing routine,
Tim gives high-energy performances onstage—due in part to his lively
Venus in Gemini and his enthusiastic, sometimes rowdy, Mars-Jupiter square.
Venus shows our values and how we relate to others, and in Gemini, a talkative,
people-oriented air sign, it helps him charm the audience and give them
exactly what they want from a show. Mars is the warrior planet, symbolic
of our actions, and Jupiter is expansive and philosophical. The friction
created by the 90-degree angle, or square, between them boosts Tim’s vigor
and spirit in his performances.
Yet privately,
McGraw seems content to live a simpler, less showy life, even when that
means "working on the farm" during his precious time off. Taurus,
the sign of the bull, is associated with earthiness, quiet determination
and peace and quiet. This suggests that Tim appreciates the charms of
rural living when he’s not performing.
As Virgo
and Taurus are conservative, traditional signs, they value the grounding
influence of everyday family life. In fact, Faith and Tim share a typical
earth-sign need for normalcy and order in their personal lives, a prerequisite
enabling them to happily enjoy their amazing successes in the outer world.
They are born under signs that stay true to what’s real and of lasting
worth in life. Thus, although glamorous to their fans, Hill and McGraw
are most likely casual at home and comfortable with the ordinary satisfactions
of day-to-day living. Their concert tours provide them all the excitement
they need, but then they must have quiet times to seriously wind down
away from the spotlight.
In
Harmony
Astrologically,
Faith and Tim are classically well matched. Virgo and Taurus share common,
down-to-earth values. They seek stability through the careful building
of material structures. Each sign reinforces a sense of responsibility
and commitment in the other. This couple’s Venus (relationships) signs
are also compatible: his sociable Venus in Gemini, an air sign, enjoys
her showy Venus in Leo, a fire sign. Air and fire signs often relate well
to one another. Partners with such a pattern really "like,"
not just love, each other and are easily affectionate.
Because Tim’s
Venus makes a tense 90-degree angle to Faith’s intense Pluto and
Uranus in Virgo, powerful feelings were likely aroused when they first met; they
probably felt an irresistibly, almost fated attraction and a passionate
chemistry at work. Tim undoubtedly finds Faith to be charismatic (Uranus)
and hypnotically alluring (Pluto). Yet her Pluto-Uranus combination is
known for its willful independence (Pluto is linked to will, and Uranus
to rebellion). Tim better not try to possess her or make heavy demands,
since she can rebel and turn unexpectedly defiant when dominated by others.
Tim’s chart
suggests that he derives vital energy from a balanced marital relationship,
although with his sometimes stubborn Taurus side, he may need to be more
mindful of the spirit of give-and-take required of all fruitful partnerships.
It helps that Faith can be quite persuasive, in a sweet yet logical way,
when she really wants him to do something.
Their compared
charts show that they exchange their thoughts energetically and would
rather get things off their chests quickly than let tensions build. They
engage in direct, honest communication, although Tim may react defensively
should Faith sound critical and too nitpicky (as Virgos often do). Still,
Faith has a generous spirit when it comes to love, shown by her warm Venus-Jupiter
conjunction in loyal Leo. Both Leo and Jupiter can be very giving. She
can spoil her man, but her Venus in regal Leo also needs respect and first-class
treatment in return.
Good
News
Transiting Saturn makes a favorable 120-degree trine to Faith’s Sun from now through
mid-April, suggesting that more prestigious honors may come her way. That
same Saturn also stimulates Tim’s lucky Jupiter, suggesting a fortunate
time for further recognition. As Saturn periods can represent peaks in
career status due to a dedicated effort to excel, both performers are
in great, award-winning shape during these next few months. They may be
at a comfortable point in their lives where they could even cut an album
together. The sweet sounds of harmony in this couple’s professional life
continue in 2001.
