The Social Paradigms of Jupiter in Aquarius
Uranus—The Great Awakener—is shattering our models of reality as represented by Saturn. Case in point: Alan Greenspan made a remarkable admission last week while being grilled by a Congressional committee. Greenspan said he's greatly distressed because he found a flaw in his ideology—the risk-management paradigm that he had used so successfully for 40 years, and that he's in a state of "shocked disbelief."
Reverently referred to as the "Oracle of Wall Street", Greenspan (March 6, 1926; New York, NY; time unknown) has his Sun in visionary Pisces empowered by a trine to Pluto and a sextile to Mars in ambitious Capricorn. Jupiter in Aquarius reflects his interest in social models, and with its close aspects to Pluto and Venus, his focus on vast sums of money.
Albert Einstein (March 14, 1879; 11:30 am; Ulm, Germany) shares many of Greenspan's natal dynamics, including a Pisces Sun supported by close aspects to Mars and Pluto, and Jupiter in humanitarian Aquarius. In each case, the personal vision eventually transformed the geopolitical, scientific paradigms of the day. While much of Einstein's paradigm remains intact, the transiting Saturn-Uranus polarity to Greenspan's Sun has revealed a flaw in his paradigm.
Barack Obama, with his Sun square visionary Neptune (Pisces' ruler) and Jupiter in Aquarius, has this same capacity to replace the old paradigms with his personal vision. Now that his election seems inevitable, and global capital is finding a safe harbor in U.S. Treasury notes, the world awaits his paradigm. The plan begins on Inauguration Day during a Sun-Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius.
Top Five Astro-Events for November
1. Saturn opposite Uranus becomes exact on Election Day, November 4, and promises an historic shift in the political landscape. This is the first of five pairings between these two planets, as the collective attempts to balance the momentum of the social, political and economic systems with the need for radical changes that would stem chaos and collapse.
2. Chiron conjunct the U.S. IC on the 7th tells us that the American domestic scene remains in deep pain during the entire month, with foreclosures likely to escalate. This influence urges strategic thinkers to take a networking, holistic approach to solving the nation's problems. Chiron in Aquarius knows that the wounds between demographic cohorts (i.e., Main Street and Wall Street) will slow economic healing.
3. Jupiter squares the U.S. progressed Mars on November 12. This connection, involving Jupiter in the government sign of Capricorn, reflects an action-oriented agenda that aims at alleviating the downward spiral attributed to unseen, unpredictable economic forces. Since Mars governs the automobile industry, watch for major developments at GM, Ford, and Chrysler, as they fight to remain solvent.
4. Jupiter trine Saturn on November 21 is a highly favorable aspect for business interests and the overall financial outlook. Since Jupiter and Saturn are in practical earth signs, this combination offers an opportunity for business and government leaders to come together to forge a workable plan of action. Jupiter's influence harmonizes the stress between Saturn and Uranus.
5. Uranus turns direct on November 27. Uranus stations are by their nature surrounded by volatility and abrupt changes. This one is extraordinary due to the very close connection to the U.S. progressed Mars, so that credit markets and the auto industry remain on red alert. This Uranus-Mars influence can bring a wide range of unexpected actions, including terrorism.
Catherine Zeta-Jones to play Cleopatra
Director Steven Soderbergh is scheduled to make his first venture into musicals with the filming of Cleo, which will star Catherine Zeta-Jones in the role that made Elizabeth Taylor rich and infamous. This version will cost some $30 million, and features several oddities, such as being filmed in 3D with a rock and role score, and set in the Roaring '20s (as was CZJ's Chicago).
Catherine Zeta-Jones was born with her Libra Sun (September 25, 1969; 2:40 pm; Swansea, Wales) square Mars in Capricorn, a combination that gives her charming, winning ways, plenty of fight, and physical energy. This planetary duo will be activated and energized by transiting Pluto shortly after it enters Capricorn, and then throughout 2009 and into 2010, as the film makes its way into theaters.
Curiously, transiting Pluto was a major factor when Elizabeth Taylor (February 27, 1932; 2:09 am; London, England) was filming Cleopatra with Richard Burton. Taylor's Pisces Sun is conjunct Mars, and filming began in 1960 when transiting Pluto opposed her Sun-Mars. Pluto's influence represents the power struggles and other complications that delayed filming, as well as exponentially increasing the cost of production.
Like Taylor's Scorpio Moon trine Pluto, Zeta-Jones also has her Moon in a water sign (Pisces) and aspecting Pluto (by opposition). These empowered Moons reflect the empowered women, who inevitably are drawn into intense emotional entanglements—perfect for the political maneuvering exemplified by Cleopatra. As transiting Pluto now squares Zeta-Jones' Moon, she takes her place among the most fascinating, beautiful women on the world stage. However, watch for some behind-the-scenes squabbles that could delay filming as Pluto nears her Mars.
