Dear Jilly:

Astrology Horoscope: JanetAstrology Horoscope: Jack

Astrology Horoscope: ChrisI remember my marriage as probably the worst mistake I've ever made! My ex-husband Jack (born July 6, 1970, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, not sure of birth time) and I (born July 1, 1969, in Irving Texas at 3:06 am) decided to get a much-needed divorce in July of 1999. (Oddly, the day he moved out was August 11, 1999, during the grand cross.)

So my new and considerably nicer boyfriend Chris (born December 3, 1972, in Jerome, Idaho, just after 11:00 am) and I have been talking about getting married, but he wants to get married very soon. I'd totally love to spend the rest of my life with this person, but marriage seems pretty spooky to me now.

Should we just skip to the part where he drives off with the vehicles and I write an outrageous settlement check? Or are we better suited for a commitment than I was with my previous partner?

Sincerely, Janet

Dear Janet:

I can see why you and your ex parted ways. The big lug's oppressive Saturn sits right on your Venus, which makes him a bit of a killjoy in your life. Since your Venus (favored in Taurus—a sign it rules) is in your First House of self, Jack probably had a way of criticizing you as a lover/wife that made you feel like a totally worthless person. How endearing. Not!

In addition, Jack's Pluto (volatile planet of self transformation) sits exactly on your South Node (past life lessons). Hey, maybe you needed to act as a catalyst in his life in this incarnation to repay him for some of your bad behavior in a past go round. I'd say the debt is paid, you probably taught Jack a lot about himself and now the ink on the divorce papers is dry so you can move on and consider the karma complete.

Moving On Up

I do think you are moving on up the male food chain in your current selection of a mate. Being a Cancer yourself, you're probably way over the moody Cancer energy of your ex and are ready for some freewheeling optimistic Sagittarian  vibes. Chris, your current love, has all that positive energy and more. His chart is very "top heavy," which suggests that his public/career life will be his focus in this incarnation, and that's just fine. Unlike sourpuss Jack, Chris is ready, willing and able to find happiness in the outer world. Your darling Chris doesn't have time to pick you apart (as Jack did). He's got too much important stuff to DO in the world. Chris does have his dark side though. Not necessarily bad dark. Just a little sexy and twisted. Read on.

A Deep Romance With the New Man

Chris' Venus and Mars (both his love planets) are exactly conjunct in the sexy, controlling, mystical sign of Scorpio. They're also conjunct his Moon (emotional desires) in this deep water sign. All three of these planets in his chart make a sweet trine (smooth aspect) to your Sun in Cancer, a fellow water sign. This suggests a certain harmony between you. You are both deeply emotional people who can provide meaning and comfort in each other's lives.

Chris' Moon, Venus and Mars are also conjunct your Seventh House cusp (what I like to call "the doorway to your house of love"). This suggests that the connection between you two is intensely romantic, and HOT. Scorpio is the sign of undercurrents of emotion and deep passionate sexuality. I'm sure when you're boinking your babe you know what I mean! The words in this column, suggestive as they may be, can never do justice to the truth that you find in each other during those tense and terrific moments of teasing and throbbing ecstasy. Whew. I need a moment, myself.

Another interesting aspect between your charts is this: Your Mars (planet of passion) is conjunct Chris' Neptune (creative and healing planet of "illusion") in the adventurous, philosophical sign of Sag. This suggests that your passionate ways (in bed and in the world) inspire your man. He may have a few "illusions" about you: You know, see you through a Vaseline-covered lens a la the old movies, but his views of you are certainly flattering and hopeful. That's the thing about Chris and his Sag energy, his belief that dreams can come true can actually make them come true—with you!

Let me also mention that Chris (like your ex—I won't even mention that creep's name again!) has a Saturn connection to your chart, too. But his I see as much more positive and constructive. Chris' Saturn is conjunct your Mercury (planet of communication) in Gemini—the sign of communication. Chris is prone to communicating his feelings, a skill that he should develop more and more and more as he matures. Hopefully, by using his Saturn in Gemini to try and structure how you two communicate (he could be the king of the "fair fight"—not a bad thing, and very different from your mean-spirited ex). He can help you to develop your Mercury in Gemini—your own latent talents as a writer and speaker.

With This Ring?

I think you have the makings for a much better marriage with Chris than with your ex. See how you are both feeling in July, when lucky and generous Jupiter goes into your sign, Cancer. By July 2002, when Jupiter hits Chris' Seventh House cusp, it may be time to say, "I do."

Good Luck!

Jilly
