Thanks for the great article on the Dalai Lama (the one person in the world I would choose to have lunch with, if given the opportunity.) ;-)
I would also think that his Mars in a square to Pluto would give him extraordinary courage to diplomatically (Mars in Libra..quietly walking their own walk) reject attempts by the Chinese government to manipulate and abuse his family of followers (Pluto in Cancer). Some hard aspects in a natal chart can actually encourage one to forge ahead under difficult circumstances.
