SUBJECT: 72 year Mayan cycle, or business cycle
DATE POSTED: 4/20/2005

Was not Venus important to Mayan reconings of time and cycles? To Venus is attributed astrological rulership of Taurus, related to tangible material wealth. Venus relates to values. The synodic period of Venus is 583.6 days. Dividing this by the sidereal period of the Earth, 365.26 days gives 1.597766 years per synodic period of Venus. Dividing 72 years by this number gives 45.063 or approximately 45 synodic periods of Venus per 72 years. Is this perhaps the key correlation you seek?

I really look forward to most of your columns every week - however, this one (Mayan calendar / Economics 4/16/04) is just another example of your boring focus on economics - it's bad enough that Merriman's column appears every week (should be less often). Perhaps you know more about your audience than I can understand. With your weekly finance column and this new article, I get the feeling that you your readership consists of mostly well-heeled financial types, stock brokers, republicans, etc.
